Sports Media Production
at Ashton Gate Stadium
This Level 3 Extended Diploma is centred around delivering real life projects, in real working environments and often for commercial clients. On this course you’ll develop your skills across a number of disciplines including sports photography, social media content creation, Film & TV production, audio production and VFX.
You’ll be immersed in a creative professional environment, working in Ashton Gate Stadium with exceptional facilities and networks that can give you the competitive edge in the future. This isn’t just your classroom, this is Ashton Gate Stadium, the home of Bristol City F.C, the Bristol Bears and the South West’s largest conference & events venue. You will work within the Dolman Lounge and press areas of the stadium, actively used by the Bristol Sport media teams and visiting journalists from the BBC, Sky Sports, BT Sport and local reporters. With food and drink outlets also on-site and other nearby amenities, you have everything you need to have a great learning experience. If you want a career in Sports Media Production, this is the place to be.
The course is built around projects which are designed to reflect working in the professional work place. Often you’ll be working with real clients on real commercial projects.
boomsatsuma courses hold immersion and opportunity at their core. Our Sports Media Production Extended Diploma changes its projects and students' outcomes year on year, by making new connections with specialists and building industry-facing projects. This allows students to not only gain a valuable qualification, but, at the same time, develop a realistic and well-informed portfolio of experience at the earliest stages of their career.
Bristol City Robins Foundation International Tour
A team of students geared up for a week abroad with Robins Foundation to document an international sports tour. The tour saw them photograph, film and live stream both men’s and women’s football matches in Portugal.
The students were able to take over Bristol City's official social media channels for the week so that they could share the player’s and coach’s experiences to the public.
Sports broadcast and journalism visits
We were privileged to recently host sports journalist, Gregor MacGregor, and Sky Sports presenter, Michelle Owen.
Together, they produce the ‘Bristol City Live’ podcast and visited boomsatsuma for a Q&A with our students, who were themselves embarking on producing monthly podcasts for the Robins Foundation. Students spent the day with Gregor and Michelle whilst they recorded the latest episode of their podcast.
Kasey Palmer signing
boomsatsuma students were rewarded with rare behind the scenes access to BCFC’s recent loan signing of Kasey Palmer. They followed his 'media day', which included a variety of photo shoots and the production of BCFC’s famous 'GoalGifs' for the new player.
In turn, this opportunity inspired a follow-up project on which students created their own 'GoalGifs' for over one hundred Robins Foundation members.
On completion of this course, you will have the strong practical skills and knowledge of the working industry needed to progress to university, higher education courses, high level apprenticeships or even entry in the work place.
Students progressing to university from this course are often better equipped than students that have studied A Levels because of the myriad of professional skills that are needed to complete a diploma and portfolio based assessments.
