Alison Reid

Alison trained at Guildhall School of Music and Drama and at Adishakti Theatre Laboratory, India. Her one woman show, an adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s An Elephant in the Garden has played Pittsburgh, USA having extensively toured the UK including the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, Globe Theatre, Northcott Theatre, Bristol Old Vic Studio and Tobacco Factory Theatres.

Alison has worked with leading theatre-makers and storytellers including Robert Lepage, Tim Supple, Melly Still, Philippa Lowthorpe, David Fielding and Adrian Noble. She has performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company (Tales from Ovid, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Two Gentlemen of Verona, The Family Reunion, A Warwickshire Testimony, The Park, Bill – RSC Fringe/Live Theatre Newcastle); the National Theatre (A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Jo-Jo the Melon Donkey); Bristol Old Vic (Macbeth, Cyrano de Bergerac, My Front Line) and Filter Theatre Company (Macbeth). Alison played Florence Hardy in A Pure Woman (world première Poonamallee Productions’); Bolingbroke in Richard II (Rose Theatre Studio) and Widow Horcada (Barn Theatre). Alison regularly performs with Michael Morpurgo around the UK in The Mozart Question.

Alison has extensive voice and acting credits in radio. TV includes: Bafta Award winning drama Three Girls, Five Daughters, Ruth Rendell Mysteries, Dalziel and Pascoe, The Project, Neverwhere, Cyderdelic. Films include: The Heart of Me (BBC Films) and What You Will (Filter Theatre/Fluidity Films).

Alison’s directing work includes The Kings Speech, Ladies in Lavender and UK première of Bestseller (Frinton Summer Theatre); the world première of Glutz (Cardiff and Prague for Royal Welsh College), Feast (Royal Welsh College); The Best of Times by Michael Morpurgo; Icebergs for The Actor’s Playground Theatre Company; The Magic Vessels in Chennai, India and was associate director of Private Peaceful (Tobacco Factory 2014) and The Mozart Question.
