Directors Note
Working on any show is a fun and challenging, exhausting process. I am forever humbled by how brave our young actors are when faced with a challenge, and for 6 weeks they have had to learn boxing, fencing, movement routines (that I change at the last minute), accents, liines, more lines and where everything gets moved to and moved back again.... plus they have had understand and play these wonderfully written characters.
As we have said from the beginning this play is less about boxing and more about fighting, Violet says it best, "We're up here, We can make our own rules", and in a time where the world our young people are living in is becoming increasingly blockaded by politics, social media and the a financial crisis that is strangling the arts - rewriting the rules may well be their best way to fight to have their voices heard.
I hope you enjoy watching this play as much as I have enjoyed
bringing it to life. I wish these wonderful young people the best of
everything as they conclude their time on the BSA professional acting
diploma course, what a way to finish!
