Introducing Bristol School of Acting

Bristol School of Acting was introduced in 2020, as the pandemic was changing how performance could be made and shared. Its founding offer set out two distinct degree routes: Acting for Screen and Acting for Stage and Screen.

Co-artistic directors Stuart Wood and Nancy Medina described a school built around contemporary working practices and the actor’s capacity to contribute as an artist. Medina placed inclusion and the need to challenge exclusion within that ambition.

The screen programme connected its training to filmmaking processes and technologies, with patron Charlie Cox involved in its development. The Stage’s October feature presented the new school’s plans to readers before the arrival of its first degree cohorts the following year.
