Miranda Cromwell and Michael Jenkins join BSA’s artistic leadership

Miranda Cromwell and Michael Jenkins joined Stuart Wood as co-artistic directors of Bristol School of Acting in October 2023, following Nancy Medina’s move to Bristol Old Vic.

Cromwell brought a theatre practice that included Death of a Salesman, co-directed with Marianne Elliott, and earlier work leading Bristol Old Vic’s Young Company. Jenkins, co-founder of Blak Wave Productions, brought his experience as a Bristol filmmaker, writer and director.

Their appointments placed practitioners from theatre and screen alongside one another in the school’s artistic leadership. The brief included shaping future seasons of graduating films and stage productions.

Bristol24/7 reported the appointments on 13 October, recording the incoming directors’ intention to build on the work established by Medina and the team.
