Nancy Medina appointed Artistic Director of Bristol Old Vic

Bristol Old Vic announced Nancy Medina as its next Artistic Director and Joint CEO on 30 May 2022. BSA’s co-founder and joint artistic director was due to take up the role full-time in spring 2023, succeeding Tom Morris.
The appointment followed directing work including Trouble in Mind at the National Theatre and Two Trains Running for Royal & Derngate and English Touring Theatre. Medina’s relationship with Bristol also included the Emerging Director’s Prize at Tobacco Factory Theatres in 2014.
In its announcement, Bristol Old Vic placed her commitment to the city and to artistic and social change at the centre of the appointment. Morris also recognised her work in establishing Bristol School of Acting.
The announcement marks a significant point in Medina’s career and in the history of the school she helped create.
