The Britz and Codetta: two worlds made by the company

Updated: 11 hours ago
One company made two very different worlds. The Britz followed a lads’ holiday through friendship and the fear of moving on. Codetta took a girl’s pop obsession and brought the band on her bedroom wall to life.
BSA and The Wardrobe Ensemble presented the graduating Acting & Devised Theatre double bill at Tobacco Factory Theatres from 3–5 April 2025. The students devised the work themselves.
In Codetta, Gracie Powell played the title character alongside Freya de Villiers as Suzie. Tess Morris, also appearing as one of the fictional Daffodils, composed most of the melodies and lyrics.
Tom Dewey’s Bristol24/7 review drew attention to both the performances and the construction of the shows. The evening made the students’ authorship visible: they had created the characters, rhythms and theatrical worlds they were performing.
