Gossip fills the rooms of Youth’s the Season…?, but the young people doing the talking are struggling to find a way out of their own small world.

BSA’s graduating actors performed Mary Manning’s 1931 satire at Tobacco Factory Theatres in November 2022. The adaptation by Breman Rajkumar and Evan Lordan followed a privileged Dublin circle through boredom, ambition and the disorder of a party.

Writing for Bristol24/7, Ella Calland drew attention to the production’s changes of space and the chaos of that gathering, including its use of Underworld’s Born Slippy. Her review described it as “an impressive coming-of-age satire”.

The play formed part of the school’s first five-show graduate season, bringing a rarely staged text into the company’s public work.
